Dear Editor
In regards to the front-page article, “Taking Sides on Tax,” in Wednesday’s newspaper, I want to clarify that Barnes & Noble does not take sides on political issues. We support the library in its effort to promote literacy in the community, and are delighted to help them host a book fair on April 9, but this is not an endorsement of any kind.
We welcome all nonprofit organizations supporting the arts or literacy to host book fairs in our store as well as other fund–raising activities. For example, Gilroy High School will be hosting a similar “voucher” book fair in April in order to raise funds for its new library. It’s one of the ways we give back to our community.
I appreciate your giving me an opportunity to clarify this point.
