The Christopher High baseball team dropped a 4-1 nod to first-place Monterey on Wednesday, the Cougars third straight defeat in Monterey Bay League play.
After allowing all four runs in the first two innings, the Cougars (4-10, 3-5 MBL) stuck with the Toreadors (13-2, 11-0 MBL), the league’s top team.
CHS pushed across its lone run in the fourth, with Trevor Large credited with the RBI.
Brandon Irby had a solid outing on the mound, settling down after the rocky start, allowing seven hits in six innings of work.
Brandon Pickens had two of the Cougars three hits, Nathan Davis had the other.
The Cougars and Toreadors continue the season series Friday at CHS. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
