Mustangs go up against rival San Benito twice this week
Ron Reed’s 3 for 3 afternoon, Matt Brotholic’s three RBI, and a complete game two hitter tossed by Jalynd Gallardo, helped the Gilroy High baseball team to a 10-0 victory in five innings over visiting Alvarez on Friday.
The Mustangs tallied in all four at-bats, including a useful four-run first inning, one in the second three in the third and two in the fourth.
Bubu Garcia went 2 for 2 with an RBI while Reed Kienle, Gallardo and Brendon Holler, who had two hits, all contributed a RBI apiece.
The victory moved GHS to 9-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the Tri-County Athletic League, setting up a monster week of key league tilts.
The four game week kicks off today at North Salinas and ends Friday with Salinas (6-3 TCAL), who handed Palma its first loss in league (8-1-1 TCAL) on Thursday. Sandwiched in between those games are two crucial outings against rival San Benito (9-4 overall, 7-2 TCAL). The Mustangs host Game 1 on Tuesday while the game switched venues for a Thursday showdown. Both are scheduled to scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
