The Gilroy High baseball team dropped its third straight Tri-County Athletic League tilt Friday, capping a 1-3 week that included two losses to rival San Benito.
Friday’s defeat came against Salinas, 6-2, and sent the Mustangs (11-6-1, 7-5-1 TCAL) into fourth place and four games back of first-place Palma.
Eric Vegas and and Jordan Dexter, with two hits apiece, accounted for four of the Mustangs’ five base knocks. Reed Kienle had the other.
A bit of the sting was washed away the following day as GHS traveled to Stockton to take on Franklin High School in a non-league meeting.
The Mustangs, who have been held to seven runs in their previous three contests, unleashed 15 hits and posted a lopsided 17-1 victory.
Bubu Garcia went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBI, Jayland Gallardo recorded three hits and four RBI and Dexter, Eric Brolin and Ryan Alba each chased in two runs.
Gilroy resumes league play Tuesday at home against Alisal. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
