An error by De Anza College’s shortstop scored Gavilan’s D.J. Santellano in the bottom of the eighth inning with the winning run Tuesday, lifting the Rams to a crucial 4-3 home win.

Chad Badger pitched a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his first save of the season for Gavilan (11-7), which moved into a first-place tie with Ohlone at 4-2 atop the Coast Conference Pacific Division.

Rams starter Gabe Katich (5-2) went eight innings, allowing three runs on nine hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.

Former Christopher High star Bryant Cid went 4-for-4 with two doubles for the Rams, and teammate Kavin Patel was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
