DEAR EDITOR:
If the current political poles are correct, AHnold stands a good chance of becomming our second “Hollywood” governor. Obviously then, a significant number of Californians believe in Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy and Comic Book Heros. A condition I view as “The Valley Girl Syndrome.”
AHnold says: “We are ready to return California to the people.” Well, I don’t think so, AHnold. Ready to return California to the Republicans is more like the truth of it and this represents typical Republican “spin” and political philosophy.
When our first “Hollywood” candidate became governor, he eliminated many state programs shifting those financial burdens to county and city governments. Our current “homeless” problem is largely the result of such “cost saving” Republican solutions. If informed Democrats do not turn out to vote in significant numbers, we can expect a hailstorm of Republican solutions – including but not limited to the following:
• Higher county and city taxes. (shifting financial burdens to local agencies.
• An increase in air pollution.
• An increase in water pollution.
• An increase in noise pollution.
• A decrease in gun controls.
• A decrease in consumer protections.
• A decrease in personal protection, privacy and freedoms.
• A widening crack in our democratic processes.
If the Valley Girls win, we ALL lose!
