Bill Throgmorton, D.V.M. March 3, 1931 – January 28, 2012

Bill died peacefully at his home in Gilroy after a courageous battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis disease.) His early schooling was in Salinas where he met his wife. He then served in the U.S. Air Force and attended UC Davis graduating with a degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Bill and four fellow students realized a need for equine research. Off campus they evaluated hundreds of horses under stress with the proven results continuing to be used as guidelines by fellow veterinarians and horsemen to this day. Dr. T. started his Gilroy career in 1963, where his love for animals allowed him to continue his research and share his knowledge nationwide.

Bill was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Joan; children Linda, Brian, Denise; and grandchildren Keri, Tyler, Danielle and Dana.

His life was filled with many adventures which fostered his stories of veterinary life, hay farming, 49er football, raising animals, and family life.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

If desired, donations can be made to Forbes Norris ALS Research Center/CPMP Foundation, Attn: Lee, 2324 Sacramento St., Ste 111, San Francisco, CA 94115
