LAFCO’S 1984 report is the example of what smart growth is truly all about. This same report was then extended in 2006, and again in 2014, without modifications, 30-plus years!

Should the City Council toughen up the sign ordinance and start fining businesses that put illegal A-frame and/or banner signs on

• Yes. I feel safe in Gilroy especially compared to other cities I visit.

• Water is water. Everyone should pay the same.

Hundreds might not graduate from high school because they have not fulfilled the 80-hour community service requirement. Should the school board stick with the program?

• My wish for Gilroy would be a permanent, year-round homeless shelter. Not just a bed for the night but a comprehensive facility offering mental health services, job training and life skills. It can happen!

Is it your sense that crime in Gilroy has been on the increase for the last year, stayed the same, or decreased?

• My opinion is the same, I still think it is much needed, I only wish they had taken more care in rolling it out.

• No. I personally will not be shopping, but we have freedom of choice and I understand the retailers trying to make money in this downturned economy.
