Friends and relatives of Joshua or “Joshie” Valdez gathered in Gilroy's Christmas Hill Park Tuesday to share memories of the 22-year-old who remains in a coma after he was hit by a car while walking in Morgan Hill June 16.

At Saint Mary School, the recipe has five decades of staying power behind it; and on Friday, the Catholic school on First Street celebrated its 140th year of education with its semi-annual spaghetti dinner. This year marked the dinner’s 50th anniversary, making the event especially significant.

McDonald’s restaurant in Gilroy donated $800 to Brownell Middle School as part of their McTeacher’s Night fundraiser that the First Street restaurant hosted in late-March.
