“Dear Red Phone, Hello, I've noticed those new directional signs around Gilroy. I think they are really helpful for visitors. I was just wondering how many more signs they are going to put up.”
“Dear Red Phone, my question is about the Butterfield extension. How much is the cost of the extension and why did they put in an overpass for the train? Was this money from the former RDA? Thanks!”
“Dear Red Phone, I noticed the city put in new street lights at Condit Road and East Main Avenue and it looks like they paved a path nearby as well. It’s nice, but who paid for that and where does it go?”
“Dear Red Phone, With new building of homes (Dunne, Calle Mazatan and other areas), the builders tear up the road to put in services. These are not minor tear ups. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem that they are made to restore the streets to the original state?! Potholes start happening, the road is uneven and now “open” to problems and never look the same. What is required of the builder in that regard after our tax money paid for nice original roads, which we should expect. Thanks!”
“Dear Red Phone, Twice recently I have seen a sign-twirler for one of those temporary Halloween stores that pop up every year holding a sign on the corner of 10th and Camino Arroyo (and in Morgan Hill on Cochrane Road). My problem is, these sign-twirlers wear full masks, you know those scary white ones that burglars wear. Isn't it illegal to completely cover your face in public with a mask, even in the festive season of Halloween? Thank you.”
“Dear Red Phone, I want to know if you could put something in about the bridge on Howsland Street near Church Street. There's a bunch of garbage and a bunch of drug addicts that live under the bridge. I want to know why the city and Gilroy Police Department have done nothing about it. Thank you.”
"Dear Red Phone, Just north of Leavesley on Murray Avenue, I'm wondering when is the city ever going to put a stop sign in between the residential area? We get a lot of traffic from the west side early in the morning, and let me tell you they're speeding like they're on the freeway. I know they're trying to avoid all the lights on Monterey and Leavesley, so they just use Murray as their shortest cut I guess. I think they forget this is a residential area. The city promises to do this and that, or they'll look into it, but nothing has been done about it. Promises, promises but nothing gets done. Maybe we could get some policemen to patrol this area between 7 and 8:30 in the morning. That's when we get a lot of traffic through here. Thanks Red Phone.”
“Dear Red Phone, Why do people steal so much from Walmart? Seems like there's reports in the paper every week about people stealing all kinds of items, big and small, from Walmart. I hardly ever hear about thieves hitting up Target or Costco. Are their loss prevention people sleeping on the job? I guess if you want to steal, Walmart is the place to go.”
“Dear Red Phone, Somebody's making phone calls in Morgan Hill and they've ripped off some seniors, and they tried to rip me off by you sending them a $200 deposit and they will send you $3,600 in a grant. They claim they're out of Washington, but it's a .org organization.”
“Dear Red Phone, what is up with the seeming rivalry/favoritism of the Thursday night and Friday night music events? You note the Friday music in the paper all the time but nothing about the Thursday music series.”
