“Red Phone, do you know how to tell when election season is approaching? It is when the political candidate signs start illegally appearing on government property. After your great front page story on this last year, I thought the scofflaws would be too embarrassed to make such a foolish mistake this year, but I was wrong. Senate candidate Bill Monning has broken the ice by attaching several large signs to the chain link fences that line the water district canal at Dunne and Butterfield. This needs to be nipped in the bud early so our city is not covered with this eye pollution. Maybe the confiscation of the illegally posted signs and some fines would remind them that they, too, need to follow the law.”
“I am going down Highway 101, right after the San Martin exit going north, this house on the left has the flag upside down. I was wondering what the reason for that. Isn’t that disrespecting the flag in a way?”
Red Phone: Last week, Red Phone received a call wondering just what exactly constitutes a distracted driver. Red Phone mentioned police are primarily looking for people texting or using cellphones while driving, but people could also be cited for having headphones on both ears.
“There is an article about police cracking down on distracted drivers. I wanted to know if that also included an iPod while you were flipping through music. It says handheld mobile phones. Thank you.”
“I was wondering what ever happened to customer service? No matter wherever you go, you cannot get anyone to help you. A lot of the times when you ask someone, it seems like you are just bothering them. When we go to Macy’s, we don’t get any customer service at all. Is there any way you could find out what is going on out there? A lot of the employees are rude when you ask them a question and they don’t even know what they are talking about.”
“The posted speed limit on Santa Teresa Boulevard between Fitzgerald Avenue and Day Road West is 50 mph. At 10215 Santa Teresa Blvd., there is a sign saying “35 MPH SPEED ZONE AHEAD.” However, there is no sign saying 35 mph at all farther down the road. The next speed limit sign is in front of Christopher High School saying 45 mph. Why have such a sign at 10215? Perhaps the sign should have said “45 MPH SPEED ZONE AHEAD,” or the sign is left over from the roadway configuration that existed before the high school was built and traffic lights added.”
“I was just wondering what Habing’s plan is for the cemetery when they reach capacity. And how close are they when they get to capacity? And what are they going to do when they get to capacity?”
Hello, I want to know why the Gilroy Police don’t use a psychic when it comes to looking for that missing mom or teen. They are real, and they do work. It is true. There are other resources besides what they think they know.”
