“What’s with those silos on U.S. 101 south of Highway 25? It is amazing that the owners can collect money for advertising but can’t take the graffiti off. Who is responsible for keeping them clean? They are the gateway to Gilroy.”
“Red Phone, Charter billed me $20 for a one minute call to something called ‘CALLTRACE’ on my phone bill this month. When I called to inquire what the charge was for the Charter customer service rep said she could not discuss it with me and I should call the police. I did and they know nothing about it. I am retired, live alone and never heard of ‘CALLTRACE’ – is there anything you can do to help? I would greatly appreciate it.”
“I read your article about gas prices. How dare you write such an illiterate answer. Trade in your SUVs for a cheaper gas car – is that really your explanation for $5 gas? What about people who work in the trades and have to take numerous pieces of equipment to work and have to pay $5 a gallon for gas.
“Red Phone, is there an alarm system in place to warn nearby residents in the event Anderson Dam should fail in an earthquake? You know, something like cities along the Pacific Coast have in the event of a tsunami.”
“I have a question about the ribbon that is posted on one of the houses near Antonio Del Buono. As a concerned parent, I would like to know what it is about but no one can tell me about it. There is a silhouette of a child and a pink ribbon.”
“This is in response to the annoyed by solicitors article from ages ago. Gilroy needs to pass a law similar to Mountain View where soliciting is just not OK. We have people who come through for home improvement, roofing and this and that. Even if they have a badge they never have business cards. They just want to come in your house quote something and get your money. We have too many retired elderly people and too many people not at home during the day to have these people wandering through the street casing the neighborhoods and knocking on doors, making it obvious who is not at home and who is and harassing the elderly in this town. The soliciting needs to stop. It is ridiculous all the trash they leave on doors. It has gotten completely out of control.”
“Hello Red Phone, I walk my dogs every day in Las Animas Park. I have for years. Without fail, almost daily, there are weed smokers and drinkers drinking alcohol (40’s in paper bags) hanging out in the picnic area (by Mantelli) in front of the dog park area under the trees. Now, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that a simple police sweep through the park would scatter these undesirables away like little mice. However I have never seen a police presence in the park. If it wasn’t for the security of my dogs, I wouldn’t feel safe walking through Las Animas Park and that’s a shame. Parks are supposed to be for kids and families, not trouble makers and drug dealers.”
“I am here at Las Animas Park between the nice baseball diamond and tennis courts. Right in between there are about 15 trees. Three of them are seriously dead, which could become a hazard in the future. I was wondering if they could be removed.”
