“The Dispatch has run an article and a poll on the garage sale signs, but what about the shopping carts? I see people pushing obviously stolen carts and police driving by them. Why? I end up having to toss them in the truck and return them since there's nothing that spruces up the neighborhood like a shopping cart in the bushes. Why isn't there any enforcement?”
"I am livid! The other day I left several bags of clothing on the sidewalk for Hope Services in San Jose to drive by and pick up (they do it once a month and give the donated clothes to the needy). Well, I was shocked to find out the bags of clothes were stolen from the sidewalk before Hope even got there! I just want to warn other people in my neighborhood (Miller Street) and I will never put out clothes on the sidewalk again. Thanks for getting the message out Red Phone."
"I have noticed more GPD working the the three-way stop at the corner of Wren and Farrell near Antonio Del Buono School. They have been pulling people over for rolling through the stop signs during school hours. I have no problem with that at all but I think they should start ticketing the number of jaywalkers who cross without any regard during the same school hours. The cross walk is only 30 feet away. I have seen numerous near misses with people just darting back and forth across the street. Most with strollers and small children. Shouldn't they be ticketing them as well? P.S. I have not received a ticket."
“I would like to know why the Gilroy Walmart can’t be more like the Morgan Hill Walmart where it is nice, clean and organized. The people that work there are very well groomed and the clientele that comes in are very neat and orderly. The Gilroy Walmart is absolutely atrocious and disgusting, whereas the Morgan Hill Walmart is superb.”
"Hello, I was wondering if you could find out when Gilroy High is going to fix their sign on the corner of 10th and Princevalle. Right now it just flashes bright red, green and orange. It gets in your eyes at night. It has been like that for weeks."
"There are three big puddles at El Roble Park right near the basketball hoops and portables day after day. Mosquitoes could be breeding there in the green-looking water in the middle of the path. There has got to be a leak somewhere because there shouldn't be a puddle like that at this time of year."
"The reason I'm calling is to let people know about their taxes. I did not get my tax bill from the county. I got a phone call from someone who knew me. It was put in their envelope with their tax thing. I feel that this could happen to someone else in Gilroy and they should know about it and know who to call. Their phone number is 808-7900. It is the county's fault, not yours."
"Hello, I was just wondering if you could tell me the actual time that the speed limit changes in front of Gilroy High School. I believe the speed limit is 25 mph. And school is between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. I had a person tailgating me going faster that 25 mph. I just wanted to make sure people know the speed limit and follow the law to make sure kids are safe when crossing the street."
"On Sunday night, Oct. 9 about 11:30 p.m. I was sitting on my front porch off Carmel between Fourth and Fifth streets. While on the phone with a friend, I saw in the sky a reddish glowing sphere. It looked like a balloon with a candle attached. This object was really odd and got me wondering what can this be? The object in question then began to get closer and become more clear. It was a quiet night and I didn't hear any noise coming from the object. It was about 300 to 400 feet in the sky. I ran inside to get my mom and dad to check it out. My dad thought it was weird looking too. And as soon as we watched it for a few more moments, the object started to lift further into the sky and it started to 'sail' southeast still glowing red. I couldn't believe my eyes. Just wanted to get a response. Did anyone else in Gilroy see this? Please advise."
