"On a Friday about 11:15 a.m. at the stop sign at Wren and Leavesley I saw a Gilroy Police SUV in which the driver heading south on Wren was talking on his cell phone as he was driving. I was just wondering if I missed something. Does that law not apply to the police who are giving us tickets for talking on our cell phones as we drive?"
"I know you guys are not a consumer advocate group. But there was ad at Walgreens to buy some soap on special for $4.99. I had a little disagreement with the manager. I had to go back to them and prove to them it was on sale. I saw in small print it said not available in all stores. There is only one Walgreens in Gilroy and it is a good sized store. They should carry the merchandise they advertise. It is totally deceiving to the general public. Gilroy residents should boycott that store for not having the merchandise. It has happened to me numerous times and I am fed up."
Red Phone: Red Phone received a call Aug. 9 from a tenant in an apartment concerned about possible illegal traffic and too many dogs confined in a neighboring apartment. The concerned tenant tried everything he or she could think of but to no avail.Â
"I live in a four-plex apartment in the east side of Gilroy. My downstairs neighbor has a one-car garage. There is a lot of of foot traffic that comes in. Some stay 10 or 15 minutes and some stay all day. She also has five little dogs living in the apartment. I have contacted the landlord, who said she had fewer rights than she would like and can't really do anything. I talked to the property manager, who said it may take up to four months to evict them. I talked to the Gilroy Police, who were very sympathetic but are over extended. I talked to the City of Gilroy, who said they would be able to send out a letter in the next couple weeks. But I am not getting any immediate relief of the situation. It is scary. It looks like there may be some sales of illegal things are going on. I was just wondering if there is anything that you can do."
"Hi Red Phone. Can you please help me find out who is responsible for cleaning up the creek between the Welburn bridge and the Church Street bridge. Right now there are shopping carts and a tree that has fallen down in there. This past winter it was damming up. The city used to clean it, but I am not sure who is responsible for it now."
