"Why does Gilroy only clean up for company? I have lived in Gilroy for 20+ years. I own a business in Gilroy, and it seems the only time any cleanup or weed cutting is done is when the Garlic Festival is happening. Maybe they should put aside money for diesel tractors so the vegetation can be cut more than once a year. Why is it only cleaned for visitors and not the residents whose taxes pay for these services and live here year-round, not just one weekend?"
"Why doesn't the Dispatch run more photo contests in the paper or online? I'm sure there are many Gilroyans that would love to submit photos of their pets, nature pics, babies, kids, etc. Is this something the Dispatch can give some thought to? I think it would be fun for a lot of people. Thanks."
"My boyfriend and I were taking advantage of the beautiful weather and owning a convertible car. As we were driving down through downtown Gilroy we couldn't figure out where this blasting of Mariachi music was coming from. As we kept looking around, we noticed none of the cars were blaring the music. It was the town's speakers playing it. I can't say that I agree with the city's decision on the direction our downtown seems to be going. The Hispanic music put us both over the edge. With the little antique shops left in our downtown, I could see the discomfort in the few elderly people I saw trying to have a nice afternoon antiquing. This occurred on a Friday at 3 p.m. Can someone please justify, if there is one, why our town located in the good ole' USA was playing the Hispanic melodies?"
"My wife and I were at the Jason-Stephens Winery Friday night for a concert. As I was coming back from my vehicle, I saw a Gilroy City fire administrative SUV type vehicle parked next to the serving/restroom building. When we got home, I called the fire nonemergency number and asked why and who was there. It is out of the city jurisdiction and I saw no reason for it to be there. They would not tell me who it was. My point is what is a city vehicle with presumably a city employee doing out of their jurisdiction with our city vehicle and using our city tax payers money?"
"I was recently pulled over by one of Gilroy's finest for what I could only assume was a moving violation because the officer refused to tell me the reason for which I was asked to pull over until after I provided my license and registration and the citation already written. I asked repeatedly to be told what I had done only to be given the same response, Â 'license and registration first.' While I waited to be written up for an unknown infraction, I wondered if I was legally obligated to surrender my documents without cause being made known to me. Â Would you please find out for me?"
"Red Phone, a few weeks ago a body was found in Uvas Canyon County Park. Has the person been identified and has a cause of death been determined? Just a concerned resident wondering what's happening with the case."
