"I was wondering, with the addition of Christopher High School and the new homes around there, are there any plans to extend the VTA bus line to service northwest Gilroy, at least to Santa Teresa Boulevard?"
Red Phone: Motorized aircraft at parks
"Like many people, I enjoy the exhilarating hobby of building and flying radio control model airplanes, but not every one does. On Feb. 20 between 2 and 3 p.m. I was flying my model airplane In Christmas Hill park like I always have for the past 12 years. Acknowledging the posted notification about the restriction of flying 'gas' powered model airplanes, I brought an electric powered model. I chose a clear nonpopulated site to launch. After a few flights, a man in a city-marked truck confronted me. While my airplane was in the air, he yelled at me and attempted to grab at my very expensive controller and compromising my ability to also fly my, also very expensive, airplane. I was afraid for my personal property. Not wanting to get in to a possibly physical situation, I quickly landed my airplane in mid-air and left. In all my years of flying model airplanes, I've never seen such a reaction directed at me or anyone else for flying a model airplanes."
Red Phone: Adding a commercial area north of city?
"With all the growth in northwest Gilroy, is there any plan for any retail such as a convenience store? It would be nice to be able to pick up milk, newspapers, etc. without a drive of three miles or so. It seems that the northwest corner at Santa Teresa and Sunset streets would be a good place. It is also close to Christopher High School."
Red Phone: Safety needed by CHS
"Driving north on Santa Teresa Boulevard just before Sunrise Avenue, some white lines were painted on the right lane for traffic to merge. I continue to see cars traveling on the lines as if the street was a two lane. So what's up with that, and why aren't the police patrolling early in the morning to catch these idiots and also for the safety of our students whom walk to and from CHS."
Red Phone: Lights needed when raining
"We recently got drizzle in the morning and had people driving without headlights. They had their wipers going but headlights off. It is a state law that they need their headlights. So ask the Gilroy police to write a few tickets. I know it is not as glamourous as drunk driving and not as profitable. But people should have their headlights on when it is nearly dark and wet."
