Morgan Hill – The body of a white man in his 40s found Wednesday night along Willow Springs Road just west of Hale Road, has been labeled as suspicious by Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department investigators.
The body was spotted by a passing motorist on the rural, two-lane road northwest of the city. The motorist notified authorities at 9:48pm. Firefighters, who were first on the scene, pronounced him dead at 9:55pm. No homes are located in the immediate area.
Deputy Terrance Helm, spokesman for the sheriff’s department, said the body was laying on the side of the road in plain view.
The cause of death remains under investigation. Helm said there was no apparent cause of death, meaning it did not appear that he was shot, stabbed or run over. Investigators are attempting to determine if the man died where he was found or elsewhere.
An autopsy was completed Thursday, but results were unavailable at press time. The man is listed as a John Doe by the coroner’s office.
Anyone with information about the death or who was in the Willow Springs Road/Hale Road area Wednesday night may call Detective Sgt. Dean Baker at 808-4500 or 808-4400 (24-hours).
