CHS hangs on for 55-54 win over Burton.
The Christopher High boys varsity basketball team led by 12 points entering the fourth quarter and held on to grab its first vitory of the season squeezing by Burton High School 55-54 at the Alvarez Eagles Classic on Thursday night.
The Cougars staked to a 47-35 lead after three quarters and were able to withstand a 19-8 fourth quarter surge from Burton, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer. But a converted free throw prior to the trey preserved the narrow win.
“We played an excellent three quarters of basketball,” head coach Kaden Bahner said. “We are going to build on it.”
Andrew Foster poured in 18 points to lead the Cougars while Nick Cordova posted 10 points. Four other Cougars had at least four points.
