GILROY – Even if the net was raised or if forced to play a man down, there was no stopping the Gilroy High boys volleyball team in its game against non-league opponent Oak Grove on Friday night.
Like a moving train, the Mustangs stayed the course, and the Eagles had no choice but to get out of the way or risk being run over by a steamrolling GHS squad.
A business-like approach by the Mustangs led to a dominating three-game sweep, 25-12, 25-18, 25-14 and pushed their record to 5-4 overall.
“We had really good momentum,” senior middle blocker Albert Chavez said. “We were just running good. Everyone did their job.”
The Mustangs, who are 3-0 in Tri-County Athletic League play this season, welcome Palma into Bob Hagen Memorial Gym on Wednesday. The game was originally scheduled as an away game.
