South bay McDonald’s Managers Complete Studies
in Hamburgerology
Gilroy – Two local McDonald’s store managers have completed certification programs in Hamburgerology from Hamburger University in Oak Brook, Ill. Norma Gonzalez, training manager for Carlisle Restaurants, Inc. and McDonald’s restaurants in Hollister, Prunedale, and Gilroy (in Wal-Mart), and Ramiro Ramirez, manager of the Prunedale McDonald’s restaurant, both recently returned home from a week studying the fine art of restaurant management, team building, and leadership. Both managers earned class awards during their study, and Ramirez made the dean’s list.
“Norma and Ramiro each joined McDonald’s as crew members, and they’ve advanced to leadership roles at their respective restaurants,” said Teresa Carlisle, who owns and operates several McDonald’s restaurants in the South Bay with her husband, Gary.
Hamburger University students can earn credit toward a college degree through their course work. The American Council on Education has recommended 100 percent of the restaurant manager and mid-management curriculum for college credit – a total of 46 credits.
“McDonald’s offers great opportunities for advancement to bright go-getters like Ramiro and Norma,” added Gary Carlisle.
More than 5,000 students attend Hamburger University each year, and since its opening in 1961, more than 80,000 McDonald’s restaurant managers, mid-managers and owner operators have graduated from the facility.
