Grant given to St. Joseph’s Family Center

Gilroy – The St. Joseph’s Family Center received an Unlimited Potential Grant of $60,000 from the Microsoft Corporation in early June of 2003.

The grant was awarded as a result of a fund directed by Community Solutions. Microsoft had given Community Solutions the funds, with directions to in turn produce those funds to programs and centers which work to improve people’s lives through the use of technology. St. Joseph’s offers these type of services at the Ochoa Migrant Center.

St. Joseph’s Ochoa Migrant Center gives support services to as many as 100 migrant families during the May through October season.

Six other agencies also received grants from the Community Foundation of Silicon Valley.

Home to as many as 100 migrant families during the May to November growing season, the Ochoa Migrant Center in Gilroy is a partnership between St. Joseph’s Family Center and the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara. During the off-season, the program provides three months of transitional housing for homeless families.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony opens Community Bank of Central California’s latest branch

Soledad – Community Bank of Central California officially opened its latest branch with ribbon cutting ceremony. Present were members of the Soledad Chamber of Commerce, city officials and senior Bank officers. Located at the new Soledad Mission Shopping Center in Soledad (2149 H. De La Rosa, Sr. Street), this newest branch is the third to open in South County.

Begun in 1983 with one office in Salinas, the Bank’s consistent fiscal strength and aggressive growth has enabled it to expand to 14 branches in Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito and Santa Clara counties. Community Bank has received numerous honors and awards over the course of its 21-year history and most recently was named “Best Bank of Its Size” in California in March 2004 by The Findley Reports.

Central Coast Bancorp, the holding company for Community Bank, has assets in excess of $1 billion and shares of its common stock are traded on the Nasdaq National Market (symbol: CCBN).

Sergio Perez transfers to Gilroy Edward Jones office as branch office administrator

Gilroy – Sergio Perez recently transferred to the Gilroy Edward Jones office as a branch office administrator (BOA). Perez is replacing Amy Dekeyrel.

The title of branch office administrator was adopted for this position at Edward Jones because of the wide range of responsibilities associated with the job.

“A BOA is not only responsible for the daily operation of the branch, but also must provide top-level client service and marketing support for my activities,” Michele Ing, the local investment representative for the firm, said.

Ing said Perez’s office skills and efficiency, as well as his knowledge of the community, are impressive. “I know he will be a terrific asset to this office as we strive to provide our clients unparalleled personal service.”

Prior to joining Ing’s office, Perez worked for an Edward Jones office in Watsonville.

Edward Jones, the only major financial-services firm advising individual investors exclusively, traces its roots to 1871 and currently serves more than 6 million clients. The firm offers its clients a variety of investments, including certificates of deposit, taxable and non-taxable bonds, stocks and mutual funds. Their Web site is www.edwardjones.com.
