Larry Azevedo, who was born and raised in Gilroy, retired April 1 after nearly 33 years with Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a manager in the Primary Standards Laboratory. After attending Gavilan College, Azevedo graduated from MIT in 1970. He received his masters degree and doctorate from UCLA. Azevedo is an active outdoors man and sports enthusiast and enjoys working with antique cars. He coaches his grandson’s youth soccer team. His parents, George and Genelle, who still live in Gilroy, plan to travel to New Mexico to attend the retirement party.
The Little Gym named top party spot
Parents magazine announced in the May edition that The Little Gym, which has a location in Morgan Hill, was named the No. 1 birthday party destination for children. Parents magazine looked at what each place provided with regards to fun, games and food, as well as extra incentives such as invitations, party ware and goody bag favor offerings.
