Gavilan College to have special homecoming ceremonies for 1973
championship team
GILROY – Anyone who ever played for the Gavilan College Rams under coach Bobby Garcia is invited to attend this year’s Gavilan College homecoming game for a special half-time presentation.
It’s been 30 years since Bobby Garcia and the 1973 Gavilan College Football Team won the National Championship. The Gavilan College Rams would like to celebrate this anniversary, and the great tradition of Rams football, by honoring all former players and coaches who ever competed for Coach Garcia. In addition, they will be recognizing Coach Garcia and the 1973 football team.
The Oct. 25 homecoming game at San Benito High in Hollister will feature the Gavilan Rams versus the Hartnell Panthers. The Rams are in contention to win the Coast Conference Championship. A full house is expected. Ticket prices for the game are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, and free to students with an active student body card.
Before the game, attendees can participate in a tailgate party at 6 p.m. featuring music, and a wonderful dinner buffet catered by Chilis, and beverages provided by Pepsi Cola. Tickets for the tailgate party can be purchased for $15.
