Dear Editor,
My name is Manly R. Willis and I’m running for the Gavilan Board of Trustees. When my name shows up on the ballot, it’s because things are wrong. The articles that I have been reading, pertaining to Gavilan are nothing but politics as usual, “which is mostly lies.” It appears that the local newspapers think that the most important news is the possibility of a new campus in Coyote. However, I think that there are news that’s more important than Coyote, though Coyote is an issue that I will address if elected to the Board.
My question to you, Mr. Editor, is why don’t you print the truth? The truth about what is going on at Gavilan College! The truth about the abuse and/or the manipulation of funding. Why don’t you tell the “real truth” about Coyote? Why don’t you tell the truth about the “community service program,” and how funding was and/or is being used?
In The Dispatch on Sept. 18, in an article pertaining to Coyote, you claimed that Gavilan may enroll 9,000 students by 2010 and 13,000 by 2030 and that that number could increase. That’s “speculation”; therefore a lie! The article was full of nothing more than maybes! Maybe this, maybe that!
The real question is: “Why is enrollment down and why are students leaving and going to other colleges?” The answer is simple! Gavilan administration staff and the Gavilan Board of Trustees and their lack of leadership!
Manly R. Willis, Gilroy
