The girls tennis team faced a tough San Benito squad and the
girls golf team hit the course against Stevenson.
The Christopher High varsity field hockey team received a goal from Roquel Roberts in a tight 3-1 loss to visiting Del Mar on Tuesday.
“I was happy with the way they played,” head coach Stacey Myers said.
The Cougars are back at it today, hosting Carmel at CHS. Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
Golf
Sophomore Melissa Maldonado carded the Cougars’ lowest round of the day, posting a 49 at Gavilan Golf Course on Tuesday.
Jasimin Flores (68), Emily Azevedo (74), Kathy Garcia (75) and Tyler Thacker (79), all sophomores, round out the Cougars’ scores against Stevenson, which placed first at the Tri-County Athletic League Jamboree last Thursday.
Tennis
The San Benito High girls tennis team went on the road and did the same to host Christopher High in Gilroy, where it shut out the Cougars by a 7-0 margin.
San Benito was able to get some help in a pair of matches, each of which ended in a forfeit.
At No. 1 singles, San Benito’s Hayley Barker won after her opponent Emily Barham dropped out due to injury, while the No. 3 doubles team of Anne Tobias and Kristen Klay won their match when opponents Jenni Seigl and Kayla Martinez forfeited as well.
Tobias and Klay were leading the match 6-1, 3-0 when one of their Christopher High opponents had to leave the match.
The Balers took the remaining five matches the old-fashioned way.
