Gilroy Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Renewal Process begins
The City of Gilroy will host a neighborhood revitalization strategy renewal kick-off meeting from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Council Chambers, located at 7351 Rosanna St.
Nonprofit agencies, businesses and members of the public are invited to evaluate the current strategy and provide recommendations for the next five-year plan, which will be submitted to the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development for approval. The Feb. 26 meeting is the first in a series of meetings to be held in different locations.

County will buy back guns
Santa Clara County will host an anonymous gun buy back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the County Fairgrounds, located at 344 Tully Road in San Jose. Turn in your guns and receive cash, no questions asked.
Those who take advantage of the event are asked to transport their firearms unloaded and in the trunks of their vehicles. The County will pay up to $100 for each handgun, shotgun and rifle, and up to $200 for each assault weapon.
Funds are limited and subject to availability. The County reserves the right to limit the amount of cash an individual can receive, regardless of the amount of firearms surrendered.

Coffee with the Mayor
The next “Coffee with the Mayor” is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 2 in the City Council Chambers, located at 7351 Rosanna St. in Gilroy.
According to a City press release, there are currently many avenues in which citizens can engage Mayor Don Gage in discussion, but these casual coffee get-togethers “provide an additional, informal setting in which the Mayor can answer questions and otherwise engage in specific or broad discussions on City issues with Gilroy residents.”

Open Recruitment for two seats on the Public Art Committee
The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting two applicants to serve four-year terms, which will end December 31, 2016. The Public Art Committee works in an advisory capacity to the Arts and Culture Commission in the development of public art to create an enhanced visual art environment within the community.
