Dear Editor,

With the continuing increase in valuation of the housing market, the Willey House is a very sound investment. Landscaping improvements will also make it a more valuable.

The new cultural facility probably will not be ready for another seven years according to information given out at the recent arts conference. To even think about selling this property at this time is a big mistake.

However, I do not think that the city should spend more money on landscaping than it did to bring Willey House up to code after its purchase from the Theater Angels Art League.

The City Council certainly should question spending $166,000 for landscaping such a small piece of property.

Most of the groups presently using the facility are not having to pay for its use. Nevertheless, some of these groups should contribute to an endowment fund which would help pay for some of the facilities expenses. The success of this effort to establish an Willey House Cultural endowment fund would encourage the city fathers to see this facility as valuable not only historically but also as a meeting place.
