Dear Editor,
As we witness the painful birthing of the Nation’s next “Highway Bill,” inappropriately named since in truth it is a Frankenstein monster of Marxist transit and capitalist transport funding, I have some observations.
1. Whatever its final form as it emerges from conference committee, it will be the nation’s largest public works legislation in our history.
2. It will take us further down the road to Marxist-Leninist society as we jettison our heritage of free enterprise, capitalist transport.
3. The death spiral of “pork barrel” patronage will grow as Congressmen spend our grandchildren into fatal levels of insolvency.
4. Until politicians are deposed from the role of Emperor Transit First, we will continue the ruinous course of taxing motorists out of their cars to chase utopian socialism, and face the same fate as befell the USSR.
Finally, regarding South County’s representation on VTA, I stopped attending VTA meetings in the late ’80s when I realized that they were not there for transport, but rather, for welfare for transit recipients and raping taxpayers to reward public sector union employees and VTA’s managers for political patronage.
This condition has only worsened over the years as the cancerous malignancy has expanded to consume ever more of our resources.
If we were lead by anybody with any brains, we would reject VTA and the radical socialists in our Legislature and Congress who have navigated us on a course to hell.
Caveat Viator!
