Should the City Council vote to spend $13,000 to reinstate the
city employee BBQ?
THIS WEEK’S WEB POLL:
Should the City Council vote to spend $13,000 to reinstate the city employee BBQ?
Yes: 0 No: 11
■ Oh, yeah, how would that look … we employees love to feel appreciated by being fed, and it makes everyone feel happy – but that could pay an employee’s salary – poorly but it’s a salary! So I don’t think so!
■ No, that sounds like a lot of money for a BBQ. They should do something for employee moral and recognition but on a smaller scale in these tough economic times.
■ Ridiculous. How does it benefit the citizens of Gilroy and not just the employees, and how long has this BBQ been in place? If it is a tradition, some traditions need to be reassessed in terms of cost, given the purpose of a City Council and the reason why they hold their positions – to be accountable to the citizens who elected them into office.
■ $13,000???? For a BBQ? I say positively no unless they rename it The City BBQ and we ALL get to go!
■ No. Money is better spend reinstating employee work hours.
■ No. Perhaps they should schedule a city pot luck!
