Grocery Outlet kicks off ‘Independence From Hunger’ campaign
Gilroy Grocery Outlet, located at 333 East 10th Street and locally owned by Gilbert and Janice Angkiangco, recently kicked off its month-long, companywide “Independence From Hunger” campaign. The event was created to “bring together Gilroy Grocery Outlet and their customers to help feed people in Gilroy who are facing hunger and dealing with food insecurity,” according to a press release.

Gilroy family remembers close call for war hero, former mayor
GILROY—The message on the wreath placed at the grave of former Gilroy Mayor Kevin “Mike” Gilroy wasn’t about the Vietnam War hero’s Medal of Honor nomination, Air Force Cross or his 100 missions, it wasn’t even a personal note to the big-time flyer and small town mayor who died Nov. 13, 2013 and is buried at St. Mary Cemetery off First Street.
