Gilroy Police Department

This week in crime, Gilroy Police responded to reports of exposed genitalia, burglaries, assaults and more. Here’s a few interesting events. 
Car chase
On Aug. 1, George Vasquez, 26, and Anthony Villalobos, 41, were driving around in a black Scion when Gilroy Police recognized them and attempted contact with them. Vasquez, the driver, sped away on Murray Avenue, allegedly evading arrest, until he crashed into a patrol car. His passenger, Villalobos, fled on foot and was found hiding in a house down the street. Villalobos was arrested for resisting arrest and for a felony warrant. The driver was arrested for evading officers. Bother were taken to Santa Clara County jail. 
Antique thefts
Garbo’s Antiques on Monterey Street in downtown reported on Aug. 2 thousands of dollars in sterling silver jewelry and antiques missing over a week long period. 
Heroin suspect
Gilroy resident Irene Rodriguez, 50, was allegedly found with a syringe of heroin when police contacted her at 6:37 p.m. on Aug. 3 on the 6900 block of Chestnut Street. She was taken to county jail. 
Burglary turns violent
Two suspects were breaking into a victim’s car at the Gilroy Premium Outlets, when the victim caught them in the act. When the victim attempted to stop them, the suspects allegedly tried to run the victim over two times with a getaway car, swerving in his direction at a fast speed.
DUI arrest
Police found Joseph Zalaznik, 26, allegedly passed out in his car at the intersection of Santa Teresa Drive and Club at 1:06 a.m. on Aug. 8. He was arrested for driving under the influence. 
Man exposes himself at athletic store
An unknown Hispanic man dressed in a tight orange long-sleeved shirt and gray sweat pants exposed his genitalia to a woman at the Nike Factory Store at 8225 Camino Arroyo at 1:12 p.m. on Aug. 11. The victim ran away, and police pieced together the scene from witness reports.
