This week, Gilroy Police responded to incidents that included pants theft, drunk in public, assault and identity theft. Here are a few of those incidents:

– Stolen Pants

Some people worship at the altar of fashion, but for Alexandria Einhorn, 22, from Gilroy, the $130 price tag for a pair of pants from True Religion at the Gilroy Outlets was a blasphemy. Following a bungled attempt at theft on Valentine’s Day, Einhorn fled the store and was arrested. The pants were recovered.

– Drunk in public

Juan Santos-Vasquez, 28, had such a good day of drinking on Feb. 15 that when police stopped him on the 400 block of Old Gilroy Street at 10:41 p.m. for being drunk in public, he provided officers with his brother’s name and ID. Santos-Vasquez was subsequently transported and booked into county jail.

– Possession of narcotics and trespassing

Stefon Efrem McCrimon, 24, managed to get a three-for-the-price-of-one deal when he refused to leave the 7-Eleven convenience store on the 300 block of Leavesley Road in Gilroy at 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 17. The Gilroy Police Department arrested McCrimon for possessing and being under the influence of a controlled substance, along with the added bonus charge of trespassing.

– Assault

The love of Valentine’s Day lasted less than 72 hours for Osvaldo Reguera Calderon, 31, and the person he’s dating. A verbal altercation on Feb. 17 escalated quickly and ended with Calderon shoving his significant other – causing minor injuries – on the 500 block of Polk Court in Gilroy. Calderon ended the evening by getting arrested for domestic violence at 10:41 p.m. and then being transported to county jail.

– Identity theft

It’s tax time again, so it’s time for some people bust out the book of scams in the quest for a little extra green from Uncle Sam. One woman on the 7400 block of Rogers Lane in Gilroy couldn’t resist the temptation to use her children’s Social Security numbers and IDs to claim them as dependents when she filed her income tax return via Lopez Tax Service. The case is ongoing, according to Sgt. Pedro Espinoza with the Gilroy Police Department.
