Firefighters were battling at least a five-acre wildfire that broke out near the vicinity Mt. Madonna today near the corner of Summit Road and Croy Ridge today just outside Morgan Hill.
No structures were threatened, and no one was injured during the fire, located near the border of Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
The blaze initially broke out around 4 p.m. as a three-quarter acre fire involving brush and debris. Initial scanner reports indicated that the nearby tower could prove troublesome for air attack. The fire continued to burn as of press time. According to press reports, the fire was nearing 60 percent containment.
