The Santa Clara Valley Water District board of directors met with their Washington, D.C. lobbyist Tuesday to get an update on federal legistlation and funding.

Mia O’Connell briefed the directors over a luncheon in at the district’s San Jose headquarters.

“She comes out about twice a year and she gave us an update on some of the legislation that might be of interest,” said vice chair Sig Sanchez.

Although no action was taken, Sanchez said one of the things the board discussed was how to proceed with the $105-million Llagas Creek Flood Control Project.

The project was one of hundreds authorized by Congress last year through the renewed Water Resources Development Act of 2007, but because federal lawmakers haven’t provided funds for it, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – which is working on it – hasn’t been able to fulfill it.
