Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Camilo J. De La Cueva recently made a
port visit in East Timor while on a six-month deployment to the
Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the 11th MEU,
based in Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Camilo J. De La Cueva recently made a port visit in East Timor while on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the 11th MEU, based in Camp Pendleton, Calif.

De La Cueva is the son of Jenny P. And Camilo De La Cueva of Gilroy and is a 1992 graduate of Mount Madonna High School in Gilroy. He joined the Marine Corps in November 1992.

About 500 Marines and Sailors from the 11th MEU participated in the largest humanitarian assistance project conducted in East Timor in two years.

The volunteers set up medical and dental clinics where they treated the local citizens and worked on schools and other buildings on East Timor and villages on neighboring Atauro Island.
