Delores Marie Vierra passed away in Hollister on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011, at the age of 87 years.
Delores was a native of Santa Clara, CA, and a resident of Hollister for the last 75 years. Delores was a member of Sacred Heart / St. Benedict Parish; the S.P.R.S.I. , S.D.E.S., and the I.C.F. in addition to N.D.G.W., Sacred Heart Altar Society and the Grandmothers Club.
A homemaker for 64 years and an employee of Sunsweet for 25 years, Delores was a past recipient of the Volunteer of The Year Award from San Benito County. Delores was a people person and was most happy when she could socialize with her friends, spend time with her family and grandchildren, as well as canning, cooking, and baking cookies for those she was fond of. H
er various trips and cruises with her husband Manuel, especially to the Madera Islands to see where her parents lived was most rewarding. Besides Manuel, her survivors are her daughters Rosanna Oliveira (Joe) of Santa Clara and Shirley Vierra of Hollister; grandchildren Joey Oliveira of Santa Clara and Melanie Oliveira-Stevens (Jeramy) of Sunnyvale, her daughter-in-law Judie Vierra of Tres Pinos and the family pet Bella. She was predeceased by her son Kenny Vierra and sister Madeline August. “She will be missed immensely by her family”.
Visitation will be held at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 2nd from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and on Friday morning from 11:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. at which time we leave for a 2:00 P.M. Mass at Sacred Heart Church 5th & College Streets, Hollister. Private entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Benedicts Church or the Community Pantry c/o the mortuary chapel.
