Jaime Rosso wraps up GUSD victory

Gilroy – The November election is about as official as it can be until the county certifies the results.

In the race for Gilroy Unified School District’s Board of Trustees, challengers Rhoda Bress, Pat Midtgaard, and incumbent Jaime Rosso secured three four-year seats.

Until this week, incumbent John Gurich still had the chance to post a come-from-behind victory over Board President Rosso, with the Registrar’s Office still counting thousands of absentee and provisional ballots.

Rosso and Gurich were back-and-forth on election night.

But Rosso, a business owner, finished 94 votes ahead of Gurich, with 5,468 votes, or 16.1 percent. That was a two-vote gain since Tuesday, when more than 99 percent of votes were tallied. The three newly elected trustees will be sworn on Dec. 6.
