Talk incentives

GILROY – The Right Track Committee is hosting a public forum to address incentives in detail on Tuesday, June 3, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Gavilan College CMAP studio (east of the library). They RTC hopes to trace the history and the impact incentives have had on public services in Gilroy and clarify how they may affect the proposed relocation of the Wal-Mart and the future movement of other retail businesses to Gilroy. Bill Lindsteadt, executive director of the Gilroy Economic Development Corporation and Jay Baksa, city administrator, will address these issues. This program will also be televised live via Charter Cable TV Channel 20 and simulcast on Channel 17. Details: Sam Bozzo at 847-4559.

Gilroy choir ‘pops’ concert

GILROY – The Gilroy High School Choirs will conclude another year of great music-making on Thursday, June 5 at their annual Pops Concert. This year’s theme is music from the 1960s with an emphasis on music from Motown. The choirs will be singing the music of Mary Wells, The Dixiecups, The Angels, Dionne Warwick, Dianna Ross and the Supremes, the 5th Dimension, Neil Sedaka, the Beatles and The Angels to name a few. This year’s concert will also feature the local “oldies” band The Corvairs as the backup band. The concert will be at the Gavilan College Theater. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door. Doors will open for seating at 7:10 p.m. It is the final concert of the year for the five choirs at Gilroy High, which involve over 160 students. The evening is combined with recognitions of many students and a final farewell to the seniors. The Pops Concert has become an evening of celebration for the past year, and this year is no different.

Rod Kelley rummage sale

GILROY – Rod Kelley’s annual rummage sale will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 8 a.m. until noon. The public is invited to come shop and/or rent spaces to sell. The fee for two parking spaces is $10. Come to the Rod Kelley office to fill out a form and pay the fee by Thursday, June 5. Cash or money order is preferred for fee payment.

Symphony annual meeting

GILROY – The Board of Directors of the South Valley Symphony is inviting the public to attend its annual meeting on Saturday, June 7, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the home of Frank Locicero, 1617 El Dorado Drive. Gilroy graduations

GILROY – Gilroy schools will be holding commencement and promotion ceremonies for fifth and sixth grades, middle schools and high schools through Friday, June 13.

High School ceremonies include Mt. Madonna’s on Tuesday, June 10, at 7 p.m. at the Gavilan College theater; Community Day School is (grades 7 through 10) on Friday, June 13, at 10 a.m. in room 1 at the school site; and Gilroy High School is on Friday, June 13, at 6 p.m. at the GHS stadium.

Eighth-grade promotions will be held at St. Mary’s on Friday, June 6, at 6 p.m. with a 10:45 a.m. baccalaureate mass, both events are at the church; South Valley middle school’s promotion will begin on Thursday, June 12, at 5 p.m. followed by Brownell’s at 7 p.m. at the Gavilan College gymnasium.

As for elementary school ceremonies, Antonio Del Buono’s will be held on Friday, June 13, at 9 a.m. in the multipurpose room; Eliot on Thursday, June 12, at 9 a.m. at the school; El Roble on Friday, June 13, at 9 a.m. at the school site; Glen View on Friday, June 13, at 9 a.m. at the school; Las Animas on Thursday, June 12, at 10 a.m. tentatively scheduled for Mason Lodge; Luigi Aprea on Thursday, June 12, at 1 p.m. for fifth-graders and Friday, June 13 at 10 a.m. for sixth-graders in the multipurpose room; Rod Kelley on Friday, June 13, at 9 a.m. at the school; Rucker date and time to be determined. Chamber golf untournament

MORGAN HILL – It’s time for the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce’s golf UN-tournament on Friday, June 6, at Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. All levels of golfers welcome. There will be prizes, games, wine and beer tasting, margarita hole, progressive poker and great raffle prizes. Entry fee of $150 includes a barbecue lunch, golf with cart, awards dinner and tee prizes and games. Sponsors include House of Thunder Harley Davidson of Morgan Hill and Anritsu. 4th annual peddler’s faire
