GILROY – Leadership Gilroy, Class of 2004 is holding its first Bowl-a-Thon at Gilroy Bowl in downtown Gilroy on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 6 – 8 pm.
The event is being held to raise funds for a district wide educational program at Bonfante Gardens.
This innovative new program will consist of a curriculum-based, educational day at Bonfante Gardens for all 4th grade students in the Gilroy Unified School District.
The school district has approved the concept and will continue to work with Leadership Gilroy to develop this exciting new program to provide all 4th grade students with an enhanced learning experience to complement their plant-based learning in the classroom.
Leadership Gilroy is a Gilroy Chamber of Commerce affiliated organization and is designed to develop and educate current and emerging leaders of the community while also identifying and encouraging opportunities for community involvement.
Cars in the ‘hood
SAN MARTIN – The second annual San Martin Neighborhood Alliance ‘Happy Days Car Show Fundraiser’ will be held in the San Martin Country Park from 11 am to 6 pm, Saturday, Aug. 21.
Food, fun and live music of the JJ HAWG band! Admission is only $5. A registration fee of $20 includes T-shirt and entry fee.

Rummage for Rover
SAN MARTIN – Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter (FOSMAS) is preparing for their third annual rummage sale to be held in September.
Donations of usable household goods, clothing, pet supplies, etc., are now being accepted. Clean out the house while contributing to help animals at the shelter through a tax deductible donation.
Donations may be dropped off at the San Martin Shelter, 12370 Murphy Ave., Monday through Saturday, except Tuesdays, from noon to 5 pm. Â
Casino night
GILROY – Saint Mary School presents ‘Casino Nite’ on Saturday, Sept. 18 with dinner at 6 pm, games from 7 to 10 pm and dessert and prizes until 11 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cullen Hall.
Cost of $50 per person includes appetizers, Santa Maria style tri-tip and chicken barbecue, dessert, prizes, two drink tickets and $25 in chips to begin play.
Guests can even win a trip to beautiful Cabo San Lucas! Ages 21 and older only, please.
