Gavilan stages free lecture series
Gilroy – A free lecture series featuring professionals from the worlds of digital photography, film and animation will be staged in Gavilan College’s digital media lab beginning today as part of its Summer Institute for Digital Media Entertainment.
The following speakers will participate:
– July 5 at 10am – Jane Edberg, teacher, fine arts photographer/artist: “Taking Digital Photography Through to DVD Slide Shows.”
12:30pm – Tracy Bender, CEO, OpenChannel Network: “Web Broadcasting and Publishing With Your Own Channel.”
– Thursday at 10am – Vin Capone, digital video/quicktime development executive for education, Apple Computer, Inc.: “The Video Project Workflow From Camera to DVD.”
12:30pm – David Weizer, freelance modeler/animator: Sony Imageworks, ILM, Disney Imagineering, “Animation Workflow and Industry Career Tips.”

County water book at local libraries
San Jose – The story of how water fueled Santa Clara Valley’s evolution from row crops and orchards to one of the world’s greatest economic and technological regions will be available later this month in libraries throughout Santa Clara County.Â
In the meantime, 100 complimentary copies of “Water in the Santa Clara Valley: A history” will be made available July 7 at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 150 E. San Fernando St., San Jose.Â
The water district is hosting Friday’s post-production celebration with the book’s publisher, the California History Center and Foundation.Â
