GILROY – The City of Gilroy Housing and Community Development, Gilroy Police Department Neighborhood Resource Unit, United Neighborhoods of Santa Clara County and South County Housing present “Gilroy Neighborhood Academy 2004,” at Krazy Koyote Restaurant, 8337 Church St., from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. on these dates:
• On Tuesday, March 30, “Building Your Neighborhood Association” will teach organizing and running a meeting, encouraging participation and building a stronger association.
• On Tuesday, April 6 “Getting the Word Out/Keeping Track of Finances” will be the last session.
Certificates will be awarded to those who attend all three sessions. Free and light refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited. Call Gilroy Police Department CSO Rachel Muñoz at 846-0524 if interested in attending.
Be a Junior Ranger
GILROY – Coyote Lake County Park is having a free Junior Ranger program for kids 9 to 12 years old. Learn about the roles of a Park Ranger, plants and animals in the park, and the Ohlone people who once lived here. Junior Rangers meet six times from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, March 31 and April 7, 21 and 28. Details and registration: 846-5632.

High school artists gallery
GILROY – Students from Anzar, Gilroy and San Benito high schools are exhibiting their work, featuring a wide range of media, in the show “The Evolving I: Reflections of the Self by Local High School Artists” now through Friday, April 2, at the Gavilan College Library, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and closed on weekends. An artists reception will also be held on Thursday, April 1, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Gavilan College Art Gallery. Admission is free. Parking is 75 cents.

GILROY – The Gilroy Economic Development Corporation in conjunction with the Silicon Valley Workforce Investment Network, Career Advancement Solutions and Gavilan College Small Business Development Center present “Workplace Skills in a Retail Environment” on every Friday from Apr. 2 through June 25, at the Gavilan College SBDC office in the Dry Creek Village Center, 8351 Church St., Building E, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This free 8-hour training course will help students learn the basics of working in retail. The instructor will review working in a retail environment, principles of customer service, work attitudes and ethics, business communication, dealing with difficult people, handling money, cashiering & scanning practices. Run through the flowers
MORGAN HILL – The American Association of University Women will hold their 21st annual “Wildflower Run” on Sunday, March 28, starting at Live Oak High School, 1505 E. Main Ave. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. 2K kids’ run (12 and under)-8:30 a.m. 10K run (USATF certified)-9:00 a.m. 5K run/walk-9:10 a.m. Cost is $25, or $50 for a family. The run/walk course is flat terrain on paved roads in the country around Morgan Hill.
