During the weekend, Gilroy police responded to reports of burglaries and embezzlement. Here are a few events:
Ammo burglary
At 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 11, an unknown suspect smashed the passenger window of a white Jeep in front of a home on Babbs Creek Drive and stole the garage remote. The suspect used the remote to enter the garage and stole $2180 worth of various types of ammunition and gun gear.
Teens with felonies arrested
Two 17-year-old males were spotted on Eighth and Dowdy and were recognized from prior contacts by a Gilroy gang detective. One of the juveniles fled but was caught a block down the street, according to Police Sgt. Pedro Espinoza. Both provided false names to police. They were both arrested for felony warrants and taken to Juvenile Hall.
Doctor’s office embezzlement
An embezzlement of over $250,000 from a medical office on the 7800 block of Wren Avenue was reported at 12 a.m. on Oct. 15. The suspect is the office manager, according to a GPD report. The report is incomplete and is being referred to a detective.
