GILROY – Don’s Vending defeated Let’s Do This 10-3 Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park to earn the first-half Women’s C League title.
The teams shared first place at 5-1, forcing the tie-breaker encounter. The Vendors quickly took control by scoring five runs in the first inning.
Lydia Cano and Celeste Soto hit consecutive doubles to open the Don’s Vending scoring. A Veronica Rodriguez single, a walk to Liz Adams and Sue Keehn double made it 3-0. Megan Myrick singled home Adams. A Kathy Adams sacrifice fly completed the explosion.
Melissa Taku hit a two-run single and Adams poked a run-scoring double as Don’s Vending scored five runs in the fifth.
Rodriguez and Keehn each went 3-for-3. Kiangtzu Bravo went 2-for-3 for Let’s Do This.
Williams Dental Lab trimmed Handmade Healthcare 16-10 Wednesday in a tie-breaker Women’s B League tilt at Christmas Hill for the first-half pennant.
Trailing 10-6 after six, Williams posted seven runs. Sandy Fortino opened the inning with a single, then completed the rally with an RBI-double. Rose Martinez provided an RBI-double.
Cherie Somavia went 4-for-5 for the first-half champions. Tracy Jimenez singled and doubled for Handmade Healthcare.
Dee’s Nuts topped AAA Courier Poor Boys 16-10 to leave both clubs at 2-3 in the Men’s C League Wednesday at Gavilan Sports Park.
Angelo Mattaliano poked a two-run home run and Ernie Lopez scored three runs for Dee’s Nuts. David Agaliotis went 3-for-5 and scored three AAA Poor Boys markers.
Cheryl Kern went 4-for-4 to lead Dutchman’s-Big Kahunas to a 21-19 Co-Rec C League decision over Gaeta’s Taqueria Wednesday at Gavilan.
Shawn Crank added five hits and six RBI for the winners. Cheryl Baragona managed four hits and scored four runs. Alan Hazelberg, Joel Gaeta and Matt Piedmont hit home runs for Gaeta’s.
Feather Haven Mill finished the half at 5-1 with a 22-17 nod over Dee’s Nuts and Cherries. Cherie Somavia drilled a triple and two singles for the Mill. Dave Perez went 5-for-5 for Dee’s.
