Do you think the “Main Street” of Gilroy could do with a lick of paint? Do you like Brad Pitt? Would you like to see something come of those two things? Then paint manufacturer Benjamin Moore & Co. has just the thing for you with the launch of its “Main Street Matters” initiative.

The campaign asks people around the country to vote online for which 20 Main Streets should be revitalized out of the more than 100 North American cities nominated. Gilroyans can vote for the Garlic Capital by clicking on the State of California on the interactive map on the Main Street Matters home page at www.paintwhatmatters.com.

“Main Streets make us who we are and we’re proud to honor that,” said David Melançon, chief marketing officer of Benjamin Moore.

The repainting effort will be undertaken with the help of multiple partner organizations – including Make It Right, founded by Brad Pitt – local municipalities, small businesses and local Chambers of Commerce.

Benjamin Moore will not only provide the paint and supplies to spruce up the winning Main Streets, they will also provide color experts to make sure that architectural styles, regional influences and historic references are enhanced in the final design, said Kimberlee Bradshaw of Benjamin Moore.

Voting is already underway and Gilroyans can vote for their city once a day until midnight (EST) June 30.
