A lucky teacher will receive the Educator of the Year award on
Monday at 9:30am at Rucker Elementary School. The award will be
presented to the Rucker teacher by the Gilroy Economic
Foundation.

Gilroy – A lucky teacher will receive the Educator of the Year award on Monday at 9:30am at Rucker Elementary School. The award will be presented to the Rucker teacher by the Gilroy Economic Foundation.
The award, which will be the seventh awarded by the foundation, is a joint effort of GES, the city, the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce and private partners.
Teachers, students and co-workers sent in nominations two months in advance. The finalist was selected by foundation’s board of directors judges on a point-scale system using three criteria: ability to motivate students, initiate and implement innovative programs and earn respect of peers and students.
Teachers, principals or other school personnel who has been involved in Gilroy education for a year is eligible for the prize.
Last year’s winner was St. Mary School Teacher Stacy Huddleston.
Any individual who has been involved in the educational arena in Gilroy for at least one year is eligible, including teachers, principals and behind-the-scenes personnel.
