Ellis, who also attended Gavilan College and the University of Oregon, double-bogeyed No. 14 and No. 3 in the first round, and bogeyed No. 1 and No. 7 as well.

Otherwise, Ellis shot par for the remaining holes.

Justin Hicks and Kevin Streelman are on top of the leaderboard with 3-under 68’s.

Tiger Woods is at 1-over 72 and Phil Mickelson is even after the first 18 holes.

Ellis will tee off from the first hole Friday, at approximately 9:12 a.m.
