Ernest “Bud” Norman April 2, 1932 – January 9, 2016

At Bud’s request, no memorial service or celebration of Life will be held. In lieu of a memorial, donations can be sent to Mabie Northside Nursing Home, 900 Sunset Drive.
Bud Norman entered into rest at the age of 83, in Hollister, CA.
Bud was survived by his wife, Doreen of 48 years, and children: R. Michael Norman of Charlottesville, VA; Dawn Jiricek of St. Louis, MO; and Rob Tittle of Sunnyvale, CA; Loretta Rodriguez, of Corona, CA; and his adopted son, Jim Purvis of San Jose, CA. He was also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Bud was predeceased by his son, Russ Norman of Aloha, OR.
Bud served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean conflict. He worked in electronics for 30 years.
During his time off, Bud was an avid camper and fisherman, enjoying a campfire at the end of the day with his family and fellow campers.
For a time, Bud and his wife, Doreen, sang in a church choir in Cupertino. Bud also was awarded first and second place ribbons from the San Benito County Fair for his exceptional jalapeno jellies, even garnering an article in the Hollister Freelance newspaper.
During his stay these past two years at the Mabie Northside nursing facility, Bud was very active in aiding other residents, and also served proudly as President of the Resident’s Council. Bud had been a volunteer at the facility for some time before he became a resident there.
His volunteer work continued after he became a resident, perhaps the first person to do so. He would also conduct religious services there once a month.
At Mabie North, Bud often played poker and Bingo, with a single-minded concentration. He also sang regularly during Karaoke time.
