Ernest C. Prewett passed away at his Paicines home at the age of 97. He was born in Bear Valley and was a rancher. He married his wife, M. Rose Prewett in 1954 in Reno, NV and served in the US. Army during WWII.
He was a member of The San Benito County Farm Bureau, San Benito County Cattlemen’s Association, The Hollister Elks Lodge, VFW in King City and was involved for many years with FFA.
He is survived by his wife, M. Rose Prewett of Paicines, his children, Margaret Ann Prewett of Paicines, James Prewett of Gilroy, Fredrick Prewett of Santa Maria, Jackie Vargas of San Jacinto and Cynthia Rabe of Prunedale. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Bray, Ellen Clausen and Mildred Olavsen and his daughter, Nancy Schwertferger.
Graveside services will be on Friday, October 8, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. at the IOOF Cemetery in Hollister.
Friends can pay their respects on Thursday at the funeral home chapel from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
