Eugene Cullom Biddle

Eugene Biddle passed away November 13, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Morgan Hill, after a battle with cancer. Gene was born in Seoul, Korea to parents Archibald and Mary Biddle, and later moved to Tacoma, WA when he was twelve. After serving in the Navy in WWII, he settled in the Bay Area with his bride, Lucille. Gene also served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He raised his family in San Jose working for FMC and then IBM. Gene and Lucille lived in Cambrian Park for 33 years, and have resided in Morgan Hill for the last 13 years.

Gene, also known as “Bid” by his wife and relatives, was an awesome mechanic, an avid do-it-yourselfer, and there were very few things he could not fix. Gene was also an airplane enthusiast. His love of planes began as a teenager when he built 4 ft. models and competed nationally. His hobby evolved into a career as an airplane mechanic before WWII and continued until after the Korean War. After retirement from IBM, Gene once again enjoyed flying his remote control airplanes as a hobby.

Gene was regarded as the classic gentleman in addressing all of life’s challenges. Gene was a kind and generous man. Most of his energy and attention was lavished on his family, who have a wealth of precious memories of their father, and grandfather. Gene also enjoyed spending time with his very good friends at the Pine Tree Villas.

Gene will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Lucille Biddle; their three children and their spouses; Susan Harwager of Morgan Hill, Ray and Laura Biddle of Grosse Ile, MI, and Ann Klosterman & Howard Simonson of Castroville, his six grandchildren; Kirsten Biddle, Ginny Squires, Scott Biddle, Victoria Harwager, Jessica Biddle, and Eric Biddle, and two great grandchildren; Lucille and Spencer Squires. Gene is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jewel Ball of Modesto, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to join us in a celebration of Gene’s life which will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 11am at the Pine Tree Villa’s Club House, located off Pine Way in Morgan Hill. Internment will be held at a later date.
