Q: Is Kentucky bluegrass really blue?

– Robert A., Morgan Hill

A: According to Georgetown College in Georgetown , Kentucky, bluegrass is not really blue – it’s green, just like regular grass.

But in the spring, bluegrass produces bluish-purple buds that when seen in large fields give a rich blue cast to the grass.
